Stazione Zoologica Anton Dohrn
The Stazione Zoologica was founded in March 1872 by Anton Dohrn, a Prussian (and later German) zoologist who dedicated his professional career to the study of evolution of marine organisms. Scientist from all over Europe and beyond visited the marine station to carry out their research in a professional environment, assisted by dedicated local staff. Funding for this enterprise came from the various national science foundations. Now, 150 years later, the Stazione Zoologica is among the main research institutions in the fields of marine biology, ecology and biotechnology. Its main building is located in the villa Comunale (see photo) where the summer school will be held. Yet, SZN field stations are now found all over the Italian peninsula. The biotechnological department has its headquarters at the MoloSiglio, ca 1 km East of the main building

How to reach Naples:
By train and metro:
Naples' Stazione Centrale is linked to the international High-Speed railway network.
See Trenitalia https://www.trenitalia.com/en.html and Italo https://www.italotreno.it/en.
A convenient way to reach SZN from the railway station is to descend from its central hall to the Napoli Piazza Garibaldi metro station (located in the basement). There, take the Linea 2 (operated by Trenitalia) direction Pozzuoli, get off at the Piazza Amedeo station, and walk from there to the Villa Comunale. Tickets from multi-lingual vending machines; no need to accept help from 'friendly persons.'
